All ACLU members and
friends are invited to the Annual Meeting of the Greater Tampa Chapter of the
ACLU of Florida. Some refreshments will be provided.
The theme of the meeting will be "Restoring the Constitution and the Rule of
Law." The event will be organized around the ACLU's
memorandum for the Obama Transition Team. Caroline Frederickson, director
of the ACLU's Washington Office, has provided a national speaker for our
annual meeting.
Our featured speaker will be
Wes Macleod-Ball, the ACLU's Chief Legislative and Policy
Counsel. Wes supervises a staff of 18, including eight
lobbyists and three policy counsel who are on the Hill everyday. He will
speak about the ACLU's work on the Hill and with the Obama Transition Team, and
discuss our legislative priorities. Wes's background includes service as
the Executive Director of the ACLU's Alaska affiliate, and service on the staffs
of former Congressman William Ratchford (CN) and former Mass. Governor Michael
Dukakis.
